The Housing Coalition of Western PA

The Housing Coalition of Western Pennsylvania’s mission is to end homelessness through a coordinated community-based process of identifying needs and building an open, integrated, and a system of housing and services that addresses those needs. The program coordinates and manages access, assessment, prioritization and referral to housing and services for any person(s) experiencing or at imminent risk of homelessness.Key aspects of The Housing Coalition of Western Pennsylvania (formally known as The Western Pennsylvania Continuum of Care):

  • Coordinated Approach: It involves a multi-agency collaboration to address homelessness.
  • Needs Assessment: The Housing Coalition of Western Pennsylvania identifies the specific needs of individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the region.
  • Service System: It works to build a comprehensive system of housing and services, including emergency shelter, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing.
  • Funding and Access: The Housing Coalition of Western Pennsylvania promotes access to funding for re-housing and mainstream programs.
  • Community Involvement: It involves various stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profits, and community organizations.
